Resonate

2000-2005
(custom software)

Resonate is an interactive audio/video installation that uses the viewers body movement to create real-time music and images. Using computer vision the users presence and physical movement is interpreted into real-time midi musical notes and layered audio samples, creating an instantaneous and continuous feedback loop between the user and the system. The video image created is a time-lapse, shadow reflection of the viewer and activity as a ghostly marking in time.

During an interactive session, samples of the user's activity is captured by the system and randomly played back during periods of in-activity and absence, as a way to entice and lure new viewers into the piece.
