Re/Sketch

2017-2020
(internet, custom software, archival prints)

With the Trump era creating such cultural division and anxiety, the news cycling, raging on both sides of the debate, one finds themself wanting a more quiet, contemplative space to retreat to. An alternative place to forget and reset, a sort of system rewrite for the brain.

Re/Sketch was built as just that, composed of randomizing, non-linear real-time 3D computational sketches (or digital paintings) that create and forget a new piece every 35 seconds. The sketches are similar, but never exactly the same. If a viewer likes the sketch unfolding they can lock or freeze it from disappearing. The structure of the project is constructed as free, open art to be shared over the internet and displayed on most any device.
